Secrets of the Kargatane

The Kargatane is the official Ravenloft fan site on the net. Ravenloft being a campaign for AD&D.

Design [ 80% ]
For a site that about never uses images and illustrations on its sections, Kargatane ends up with a pretty good design. And even being copied from Ravenloft modules, it functions very well, as it is adapted to the web.
After all, they now have the right to copy the design since they are the official Ravenloft site... And the browsing is simple but good as well. Of course I can't give to its design a perfect rating, but I can say that its at least very intelligently done.

Content [ 95% ]
Hosting over eight original Ravenloft netbooks with hundreds of pages each defines Kargatane as another heavy RPG content on the internet... Tough the information on these books aren't available online as well, its just downloading them to read later, and if you are a Horror RPG fan, you will be content.
But then, there are ones who doesn't like Ravenloft and the Horror theme this much, and would be glad to just take a peak on the site for new races, items, spells or such... Well, then this people won't be content. Because Kargatane is really devoted just to Ravenloft, and holds no room for those who are not really into it.
Another great stuff that I found on the site was the Reviews section, where people may post their reviews on each of the Ravenloft ever released products, just like the Amazon.com way. But the webmasters also give their ratings to each book, and the reviews are well done... If you want to know which Ravenloft product is the best, take a look here.

Originality [ 90% ]
Dealing with Horror is always like this: You got Frankenstein, Vampires, Werewolves and Witches, and you got a good mix for a good horror tale... But then, is it going to be this original? Originality is a very difficult thing to get out of horror themes. And that's precisely why Kargatane reached this bright spot on the web, they make Horror with originality.
If you want to see why I'm saying that, just take a look on their campaign journals or any of the netbooks. Of course not everything will be original, but at least its not rude copies of century old books and fiction. They have got what it takes to really scare people.

Hot Spot [ Netbooks ]
Weak Spot [ No room for non-Ravenloft fans ]
Total [ 88% ]
